We’ve designed an Executive Board jam-packed with passionate people. Some are motivated by helping the community, while others work to promote various student groups. But what we all have in common is a drive to succeed in the industry.
Best of all, we recognize the diversity in our organization, and continually adapt to its needs. Being stagnant is too boring for us – you’re bound to find a new initiative brewing somewhere. We don’t change for the sake of something new; we adjust because we recognize an opportunity.
2011-2012 Executive Board
Andrea Martinez
SVP Management

Hey everyone! I'm Andrea, senior vice president of management this year. My job is to make sure AAF is running smoothly and that all committees are on task. As a senior majoring in advertising, I am very excited for what AAF has to offer this year!
Last year, I participated in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) on the media team and as a campaign presenter for the client, JCPenney. My experiences in AAF and NSAC gave me the opportunity to see a glimpse of how a real agency works. This past summer, I interned at Starcom MediaVest Group in Chicago as a media planner for Proctor & Gamble. Working at the agency allowed me to discover my passion for media planning and research as well as account management. My internship experience made my summer of one of the best yet, and I couldn't have landed the job without the help of AAF and NSAC!
In my spare time, I love to stay on top of the latest artists, music, and concerts. I am also an on-air personality on WPGU 107.1 for my specialty show called "Walk the Plank" which plays electronic, dubstep, and everything in between. I hope to one day be able to incorporate my love for music and passion for advertising into a career.
Feel free to reach out with any questions about AAF or internship advice!

Internal Communication
Hi! My name is Louise and I am currently a senior majoring in advertising and minoring in communication. I am this year's VP of Internal Communication and it is my goal to ensure that all members are constantly in the know. Last year I was a part of the NSAC team, creating the campaign for JCPenney. It was one of the most fun and unique experiences I've had in college thus far. This past summer I was an account management intern at Draftfcb in Chicago, working on the Motorola Mobility account. Being at a large agency was exhilarating and definitely helped me see where I want my career going in the future. Lauren Welton
VP Digital Communications
Greetings, AAF! I'm Lauren, a junior in Advertising and Informatics and your vice president of Digital Communications. I manage AAF’s digital affairs, mostly by maintaing the AAF Illinois website, which you are on right now! Imagine that!
This is my third year in AAF, and my second on the executive board. Last year, I was able to oversee the Member Relations committee in its final year of life--may it rest in peace. I was responsible for all of those coffee hours, where we savagely took over Espresso Royale so we could all mingle for a bit. Those were some good times!
This past summer, I worked at Peapod’s corporate headquarters. I tore myself away from the free potato chips for a bit to do some some work with the branch that photographs products for marketing and e-commerce initiatives. I worked on advertising materials and did research on the different manufacturers, distributors, and brands that Peapod worked with on a regular basis.
Aside from AAF, I am a peer consultant at the Writers Workshop, so if anyone needs a bit of help with a paper, I’m your girl! I also choreograph musicals for the Illini Union Board and dance whenever I can. I’m becoming more and more interested in web design, so I’m also doing some work with it on the side, with my latest project being the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra website. When I’m not working, however, I like to read web comics and make movies about my plush unicorn, Sweet Yvonne, who might be the most darling thing in the entire world!

When I am not living and breathing NSAC I can most likely be found tweeting, chugging a large iced coffee or purposefully misusing the word “literally.”

Maria Stuckel
VP New Initiatives
Hi, I’m Maria, but I also respond to Stuckel, Stucks, or Stuckie (unfortunately). Born and raised in Chicago, I am currently a senior Advertising major with a double minor in Communications and Italian. After being a loyal member of AAF for three years now, I am ready to take on my position as VP Initiatives for the 2011-2012 school year. The Illinois chapter of AAF is currently the largest chapter nation wide, and I may be biased, but I think we are also the BEST chapter. My job is to keep it this way by not only bringing new ideas and new opportunities to the table, but by making them happen. I did not have an internship this past summer, but I did study abroad in Rome through the ADV 399 program and would highly recommend students to look into that! The experience sparked my interest in international advertising, and I plan to go that direction after graduation. Oh god, the thought of venturing out into the real world depresses me. So, I plan to cater to my “senioritis” and have as much fun as possible this last year! AAF barndance anyone?
