Membership Spotlight – Angela Wang
By Cory Van Duyne
An advertising student from Beijing, China, Yutong Wang, or commonly known as Angela, loves to travel and experience different cultures, especially here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Angela joined the American Advertising Federation at Illinois after learning about this organization club in Adv150, an introductory advertising course provided at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She decided to join in order to get involved in an academic-related organization on campus while also getting exposure to the “real-life” experience.
Angela is very involved in the organization, as she is a member of three different committees – Community Outreach, On the House and Pangaea. Better yet, she even demonstrates great leadership skills in these agencies. Angela is a committee leader in Community Outreach, an account planner in OTH, and a copywriting position in Pangaea.
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) offers endless opportunities to learn about the advertising industry, and Angela is forever fortunate. The organization is an outlet for her to create campaigns for legitimate clients and allows her the chance to make friends who demonstrate similar interests as her. So far, her favorite memory in AAF were the Advasion trips and the Pangaea committee dinner at Joe’s Brewery.
Apart from AAF, Angela enjoys practicing jazz and Latin dance. She also likes watching reality shows, dramas and documentaries during her free time.
Angela wishes to study abroad in either France or Australia, as well as create microfilms and write music with her friends. She continues to make the best out her time through being involved in various communities and learning more about the advertising industry.
