Agency Highlight: A Look at Pangaea

Across AAF Illinois’ eleven unique agencies, each manages to offer a unique experience and learning curve for members. One such agency that deserves recognition is Pangaea, AAF’s multicultural agency.

In order to learn more about this agency and the opportunities it presents, we spoke to Justyne Go, Pangaea’s creative director. She spoke on Pangaea’s dedication to its founding values of diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Go explained that Pangaea’s primary focus was creating work that caters to a diverse clientele.

As well as a diverse clientele, Pangaea strives to create an inclusive environment in AAF where members’ voices can be heard and where individuals can be challenged to develop powerful ideas.

Some of Pangaea’s past work has involved clients like Mi Pueblo- a student-run organization that creates space for Spanish cultural functions and conversational practice- as well as Beta Chi Theta, and Illini Boxing. Pangaea hopes to host activities and events in addition to client work.

“We plan to have creative and professional development workshops that include teaching the basics of Adobe Creative Suites,” said Go. Pangaea also plans to host resume building workshops, and give advice on how to find internships that align with its members’ goals for a future career.

“We aim to raise awareness about multicultural issues within the advertising industry, as well as the highlights of agencies and companies,” Go continued.

Pangaea is a great experience for students who are passionate about changing the cultural diversity of the advertising industry, or who just want to build up experience with diverse clients. The agency meets at 6pm on Mondays in Armory 432 for anyone interested.
